Games will be played on bigger dimensions than the players are accustomed, with the base paths increased to 75' and the pitching rubber set at 51'6". An additional change will be leading and stealing, so we will be working with the boys on pitching from the stretch and pick-offs with the pitchers and how to take a proper lead, pick up the coach's sign, read a pick off move and steal a base for the runners.
Wednesday's practice was short but went well. The boys quickly adjusted to the larger field from a defensive standpoint, but they'll take some getting used to running the longer bases.
Next practice is Saturday, 10am at Giese Park. If you have not sent me your player's jersey size and choice of 3 numbers, please do so ASAP so I can get the jerseys and hats ordered. Gray pants and navy socks are preferred.
The full roster and schedule will be posted on the website at http://www.stignatiuscyo.org/ as soon as it is complete. I'd also like to get a team picture to post and will also add action shots. If for any reason you would prefer your player's picture not be posted, please let me know.
We are also registered and insured with Elite Tournament Championship Baseball (http://www.etcb.org/), so if I see any weekend tournaments, we'll see if we can enter one.
